The Council for Exceptional Children, Toronto, Chapter 56, recognizes the contributions and service of educators and parents and the achievements of children and youth in the Toronto area.
Ontario CEC has prepared an awards booklet to assist Chapters in making nominations for provincial awards. Chapter 56 nominates educators, parents and children for the following provincial awards:
Educational Leader of the Year, Teacher of the Year, Yes I Can Parent and Yes I Can Student.
Please see the Provincial website for the provincial awards. Toronto, Chapter 56 has established two awards of its own. The Appreciation Award is given to an individual (educator, educational assistant, child and youth worker, community worker, peer tutor, volunteer) who has made a significant contribution toward improving the lives of exceptional students in the Chapter 56 community. This person does not have to be a CEC member.
The Kevin Toperczer Spirit of Community Award is presented to an exceptional person who exemplifies community spirit and is nominated by peers, teachers, administrators or agencies. All award recipients are honoured by Chapter 56 at an annual awards dinner in the Spring.
YES I CAN STUDENT Award Nomination form, inclusive of a one paragraph summary outlining the reasons why the individual was nominated must be submitted.
EMAIL email@example.com FOR THE YES I CAN STUDENT FORM.
Please Note: All nominations must be received by the Awards Chair no later than April 10 in order to be recognized at the next Annual Provincial Conference; nominations received after April 10 will be referred to the following year’s conference.
